Turkey Day 2008

We had a great Thanksgiving this year. We were able to visit both sides of the family in one day and had our fill of the good food and good times with family...

Joey enjoyed his 1st turkey dinner..the real kind and not the lunch meat variety!
He also had his first pumpkin pie!!

Start your engines

On Saturday we finally celebrated Joey's 1st Birthday.
This momma had been too busy and decided to have it later when things quieted down!

It was "race car" themed and lots of fun to decorate and plan for..even if we only had 8 adults and 1 older brother... who dressed in his racecar driver costume Grandma Joan made him..

Here is the race track cake..

Rough looking but it worked and people ate it! LOL!

Isn't his bib cute? My mom, Grandma Joan, made it for him..and the small navy print fabric has little owls on in...so "in" this season-especially in the scrapbooking world!

Our birthday boy was not feeling his best..we kept him home on Friday and I had taken him to Urgent Care that morning and they said he has Roseola..rash, fever....thus the pink cheeks in the pictures.

We were giving him Tylenol and he took a LONG nap prior to the party and got all flushed.
But he still felt well enough to show everyone his latest trick..pushing his brother around in their cart.
zoom, zoom..hold on Jack!

And open presents!

He received a lot of nice things..but his Favorite was an old noise maker my Dad found in his stash of stuff .

Joey loved it so much he spun in a circle on the floor shaking it!

Jack used to spin himself in a circle too and we called it "sit and spin"

I stayed up late Friday night to put together a first year slide show-I must say it turned out great! The best part of the day..after all the commotion, people and noise..Sitting on Boppa Dave's lap to read a new peek-a-boo book..

Funny Friday

Joey must be getting his 12 month molars...That is all I am saying-crying, no sleep, fever, rash..

He was crying pretty hard this morning..Daddy was trying to console him in his room..
Jack was up with me in bed in our room and he picked up the monitor and said..

"Mommy,I am going to sing Joey a very quiet lullaby"..and he proceeded to put the speaker right up to his lips and sing a broken up but beautiful rendition of "Hush little baby"

That in itself was the sweetest thing ever..but it was comical how he would sing up to the last word of each line and wait for me to interject the answer...

Jack: "Momma's gonna buy you a ...(pause)"
Me: "diamond ring.."
Jack: "Diamon ring"..If that Diamon ring ..(pause)"
Me: "turns brass.."
Jack: "turns bwass..momma's gonna buy you (pause)..."
Me: " a looking glass"

And this continued to the end BUT he remembered the last line all by himself..
"You'll still be the sweetest baby in town."

Priceless.
Wish I could have gotten it on video.

just have to say

Put in on the record

Last night Jack and I were looking through a toy catalog marking which items he would like on his Christmas Wish List (ahem...pretty much the whole catty..except for the girl things)

He even wanted the baby toys-he put a disclaimer on those indicating "that would be for Joey" (Yeah right.)

When we got to the end he said..

"I want so MANY toys that Santa is gonna need to bring 2 sleds"

Good Grief

Laurie Berkner Band

Jack and I have always loved the songs of Laurie Berkner. She is featured on Jack's Big Music Show on Noggin.
I took him to her concert in Mpls recently. It was fun and we learned a new song called Victor Vito..I highly recommend her cd's for any new parent.

After the show I took Jack to Candyland near Macy's and we tried the BIG gumball machine bought some gooey swedish fish.
